Ice Wireless Provides Free Wi-Fi Service and presents Justin Nozuka at Folk on The Rocks Festival

YELLOWKNIFE, NT – July 18, 2017 – Ice Wireless, a leading wireless network provider in Canada’s North was a proud sponsor of the 2017 Folk on the Rocks Festival held in Yellowknife, NT. Folk on the Rocks is one of Canada’s top summertime music and cultural festivals with an annual attendance of over 5,000 people.

In addition to presenting the Juno-nominated musical performer Justin Nozuka, Ice Wireless provided free Wi-Fi service for all attendees. A first for the Festival, that created much excitement and buzz amongst participants.

“We at Ice Wireless love music in all its forms and so we were very happy to get involved with Folk on the Rocks,” said Cameron Zubko, Chief Operating Officer for Ice Wireless. “Folk on the Rocks presents a very special opportunity for talented artists from the Northwest Territories and across Canada to come together and make some incredible music together.”

The festival was held on a sandy campground which does not normally have access to Wi-Fi internet services. Ice Wireless contributed $40,000 towards the project to build the carrier-grade Wi-Fi system from the ground up.

“At Ice Wireless, we want to help people stay connected,” added Zubko, “So we set up a free Wi-Fi service to enable attendees to share and post photos of musical performances, read up on the backgrounds of the artists, and keep in touch with their friends and loved ones during the festival. I think people really appreciated having access to free Wi-Fi because we got a lot of positive feedback on the service.”

Ice Wireless also provided an opportunity for festival attendees to interact with Justin Nozuka by letting people explore their own artistic talent and paint the backdrop for his performance. Hundreds of participants helped paint the wall, including many who had never painted before and enjoyed the experience of painting for the first time. The painting wall was then presented as a gift to the Folk on the Rocks festival.
